ATTENTION ALL ARTISTS:

We are proud to be hosting the newest incarnation of Philly Drawing Club at Shofuso Japanese House and Gardens. As part of our partnership with artist in residence, Oluwafemi Olatunji, we will be holding a get-together of artists, doodlers, and art enthusiasts of all kinds to practice their sketching skills in our gardens. Amateurs and professionals alike are welcome.

***Any Drawing Club participants who register through this link will be given free admission to Shofuso!

A Few Important House Rules: Sketchbooks and pencils will be provided. No ink, marker or paint will be allowed as that could easily stain or damage the house. Drawing Club participants will be asked to remain in the garden while sketching. You may, however, sit on the outer veranda of the house.

There will also be a tea demonstration happening May 22nd from 2:30pm to 3:30pm. Any Drawing Club participants will be asked to be respectful of the event, keeping noise to a minimum so our tea ceremony guests can enjoy their experience. Thank you!

Here is some more information on our artist in residence, Oluwafemi Olatunji.

As a Nigerian artist and well-known performer on the International club scene, Oluwafemi has created an electric combination that brings high energy excitement to audiences across the US, Africa and Europe. A DJ and visual artist, Oluwafemi’s musical influences include Nigerian artists such as Ebenezer Obey, King Sunny Ade and Fela Kuti.
