Join our vision for a more inclusive and vibrant future between the U.S. and Japan

In 1982, the Friends of the Japanese House and Garden was established by a small group of Japanese American volunteers and caretakers who were deeply committed to safeguarding the historic site of Shofuso. Their tireless efforts led to the restoration and preservation of the house and garden as a longstanding cultural marker of the U.S.-Japan relationship. Thanks to them, we are able to continue the work of expanding the public’s understanding and appreciation of Japanese culture, Japanese American history, and, more broadly, intercultural exchange. The Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia was born out of respect for this mission and we are proud to carry on the legacy of those who came before us. We invite you to join our vision for a more inclusive and vibrant future between the U.S. and Japan. Your gift today is crucial to the continued success and daily operation of JASGP and Shofuso. Not only does your contribution make our programs happen, it’s also an investment in the mission of JASGP: to inspire mutual curiosity, understanding, and collaboration between Japan and the Philadelphia region, and, ultimately, the world.
