Evening Yokai Lecture

Learn about Japanese folk monsters—called yokai—with local art historian and professor Dr. Frank Chance. The lecture includes an intro to Japanese folklore, yokai, and their origins, as well as tellings of a few short yokai tales.
Encyclopedias of yokai lore by Japan-based Philadelphia artist Matthew Meyer will be available for purchase before and after the event. Meyer has written two illustrated encyclopedias (available here) about Japanese ghosts and monsters. He also currently runs a Patreon project and maintains yokai.com to share yokai with the world.
Refreshments will be provided. Dress warmly — the event starts at sundown and it can get quite chilly.
